officially a lover of all things Donald Glover

So I love 30 Rock, for which young comic upstart Donald Glover was a writer for a while. I was introduced to his standup on Comedy Central, and loved that, too. I saw "Mystery Team", loved it. And "Community" on NBC is probably my favorite sitcom of all time.

And now, I don't know how he did it, but Donald Glover caught my love once again. This time, it's his music. CULDESAC is the latest hip hop album Glover has produced under his stage name Childish Gambino. He uses a pseudonym in his raps because, as he states in "The Last", people tend to associate his name with jokes, and he is not a joke rapper.

It's availabe for free download on its official website. Give it a listen. You just might love it, too.

I don't normally get like this about celebrities, but I finally have a guy out there I can kinda obsess over.

a quick run down of my life right now

i'm writing some plays about the end of the world.
(The Apocalypse Studies)
which i want to have finished very soon.

i'm also adapting some medieval cycle plays into postmodern theatre pieces
(in particular, The Temptation of Christ and The Woman Taken in Adultery)
for the spring 2011 mainstage production at Saint Mary's College.
my mentor on the project, Frank Murray, has been nothing but helpful and generous in working with me on this.

i've also been shaping the artistic vision for LAFF!RIOT!(repeat), my clown troupe that i hope to get off the ground in the fall. i've been told i have a problem with follow-through, so this is one thing i'm really going to dedicate myself to.

i leave for Fresno and the CSU Summer Arts workshop on Sunday.
as of right now, i just barely have enough money to get on the Greyhound from here to Fresno.
i have no idea where i'm going to be living in Fresno. i can't afford the on-campus housing option.

i'm trying to arrange yard work jobs with some families around the Lamorinda area so I can get some extra cash in my pocket. last time i checked, i'm pretty good at yard work.

i owe Saint Mary's College $8,500, and can't be a student there any more until I pay that.
so i might not be coming back to school. but that's a little lower on the priority list right now i guess.

elias chahin is the best roommate i could ever ask for.

i started to think for a minute that i'm in some kind of crisis,
but then i remembered:
life is crisis.
crisis is good.
hail eris.

that's all for now. there are other things, of course, but none of them are blogworthy.

I've had many blogs before

many blogs under many names.
many different identities, many different ideals.
many different blogs. they have all failed.

i can't say whether i'll stick with this one or not.
this blog might be the one that i keep forever.
so far, it's the one i like the most.
and i think that now, more than ever, i need a space to arrange my thoughts online.
we'll see.

i am a millennial child.
we for some reason have the need to put all our thoughts online.
i don't know why.
but i guess since i'm a part of this generation, i should be a part of this bandwagon as well.
i'm on twitter already,
and i guess i do have thoughts that are more than 140 characters,
and that aren't in 5-7-5.

a rebirth online
makes the self feel satisfied
though the soul declines.

there's more of those on twitter @haikudiaries if you want to take a look.

well, here we go.
a new blog. a new thing in my life.
i'm reluctant, but excited.

welcome to the wonderful world of yancy.
